David Kyle McClelland

David Kyle McClelland is a Northern Irish defender who developed through Rangers’ academy after joining the club at seven. He gained his first senior experience on loan at Falkirk, making his debut against Clyde in April 2021, before leaving Rangers in 2022. McClelland signed for Hibernian that June and made his Scottish Premiership debut against Livingston in August. Loan spells with Cove Rangers and Queen of the South expanded his experience, with the latter bringing 37 appearances across all competitions and the club’s Player of the Year award in 2023–24. He then joined Coleraine on loan for 2024–25, making 33 league appearances in Northern Ireland. After leaving Hibernian, McClelland signed permanently for Glenavon in July 2025 and moved to Cliftonville on loan in January 2026. He has represented Northern Ireland at under-17 and under-21 level and is noted for preferring to build play from the back.
