Kobbie Boateng Mainoo
Kobbie Boateng Mainoo is an England international defensive midfielder who represents Manchester United. Born in Stockport on 19 April 2005, he played youth football for Cheadle & Gatley and Failsworth Dynamos before joining United’s academy at nine. Mainoo initially played as a striker, later moving through attacking midfield and wide roles before settling in deeper central positions. He helped Manchester United win the FA Youth Cup in May 2022, then made his senior debut by starting the 3–0 EFL Cup victory over Charlton Athletic in January 2023. After returning from a pre-season injury, he became a regular during the 2023–24 campaign and scored the winning goal against Manchester City in the 2024 FA Cup final. Mainoo made his England debut in March 2024 and started the Euro 2024 final against Spain. His game combines close control, ball progression and the ability to operate between defensive and box-to-box midfield roles.
