Karl Darlow

Karl Darlow is an English goalkeeper born in Northampton on 8 October 1990. He began as a defender before moving into goalkeeping and spent seven years in Aston Villa’s academy, later joining Nottingham Forest after his release. At Forest, Darlow developed through loan spells with Newport County and Walsall before making his professional debut in 2011 and establishing himself as a regular. He moved to Newcastle United in 2014 in a joint deal involving Jamaal Lascelles, spending much of his long spell as deputy while also making important first-team appearances. Darlow helped Newcastle win the 2016–17 Championship title, recording 13 clean sheets during that campaign. He later represented Hull City and joined Leeds United in 2023, where his experience added competition and goalkeeping depth. In September 2024, Darlow switched his international allegiance to Wales through his grandfather Ken Leek and made his international debut, extending a career marked by patience, adaptability and promotion success.
