Kaan Ayhan

Kaan Ayhan is a Turkish centre-back born in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, on 10 November 1994. He developed in FC Schalke 04’s academy and made his professional debut for the club in October 2013. After a loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, Ayhan joined Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2016, where he became an important defender and helped the side win the 2. Bundesliga in 2017–18. He moved to Sassuolo in 2020, gaining Serie A experience before returning to Türkiye with Galatasaray in 2023, initially on loan and later permanently. At Galatasaray, Kaan Ayhan has operated primarily in defence while also offering cover in defensive midfield. He has represented Türkiye internationally, including the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign, when he scored a headed goal against France. His career reflects a progression from Schalke’s youth system to regular football in Germany, Italy and Türkiye.
