Kevin John Ufuoma Akpoguma

Kevin John Ufuoma Akpoguma is a defender born in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Germany, on 19 April 1995. He developed at Rot-Weiß Speyer and FC Neureut 08 before joining Karlsruher SC’s academy in 2007. At Karlsruhe, Akpoguma won the Fritz Walter Gold Medal at under-18 level and helped the club’s 2012–13 third-tier title-winning squad. He moved to 1899 Hoffenheim in 2013 and gained senior experience on loan at Fortuna Düsseldorf from 2015 to 2017. After recovering from a serious neck injury suffered at Düsseldorf, he made his Bundesliga debut for Hoffenheim in October 2017, later spending a short loan spell with Hannover 96. He is currently listed with Frosinone. Primarily a centre-back, Akpoguma can also cover either full-back position and brings height to defensive and aerial work. He represented Germany through under-20 level before switching international allegiance to Nigeria in 2020 and making his Super Eagles debut that October.
