Kristoffer Vassbakk Ajer

Kristoffer Vassbakk Ajer is a Norwegian centre-back for Brentford. Born in Rælingen in 1998, he began at Rælingen FK before joining Lillestrøm SK at 11. After moving with his family to Kristiansand, Ajer joined IK Start and made his professional debut as a teenager. In 2015, he captained Start against Lillestrøm and became the youngest captain in Norway’s top flight. Celtic signed Ajer in 2016, and, following a loan spell at Kilmarnock, the club converted him from central midfield into defence. He became an important Celtic player, helping the Glasgow side win three successive Scottish league titles and contributing to a Treble Treble-winning team. Ajer moved to Brentford in 2021 and has also represented Norway, while his height and ability to play across the back line have supported his role as a versatile defender.
