João Pedro Neves Filipe

João Pedro Neves Filipe, known as Jota, attacks space from the left, often running beyond the line to threaten the back post. Jota rose through the Benfica academy, starred for Celtic in the 2022/23 treble season, then moved to Al-Ittihad before returning to Celtic in 2025. Jota keeps probing defenses on the wing. As a left inverted winger, Jota checks short then spins in behind, links play with one-touch layoffs, and drives at defenders. A turning point came with a cruciate injury in May 2025, sidelining him as he began a cautious return in 2026. He was part of Portugal's youth European champions, and his pressing and work rate help him recover possession high and press from the front. On the ball, Jota attacks the back post and finishes moves when space opens. Jota's role keeps Celtic’s wide attack dynamic and his pace stretches lines.
