Joseph Michael Woodiwiss

Joseph Michael Woodiwiss is a Welsh defender born in Cardiff on 10 November 2002. He developed in Newport County’s academy and made his senior debut for the club against Cheltenham Town in the EFL Trophy in November 2019. Woodiwiss signed his first professional contract with Newport in June 2021, then gained senior experience on loan at Merthyr Town during the 2021–22 season. He moved to Pontypridd United for the 2022–23 campaign, although Newport recalled him in January 2023. After leaving Newport at the end of that season, Woodiwiss returned to Merthyr Town on a permanent basis. He joined Penybont in July 2024 and has continued his career in the Cymru Premier. Primarily a right-sided centre-back, Woodiwiss can also operate at right-back and is noted for comfortable possession and the mobility to cover ground defensively.
