Josep Martínez Riera

Josep Martínez is a Spanish goalkeeper born in Alzira on 27 May 1998. He developed at UD Alzira before joining Barcelona’s La Masia in 2015, where he worked on distribution and playing from the back. In 2017, Martínez moved to Las Palmas, progressing from the reserve side to his senior debut in the Segunda División during the 2018–19 season. His performances earned a move to RB Leipzig in 2020; although opportunities were limited, he continued developing his positioning and command of aerial situations. Martínez made his senior Spain debut in June 2021, featuring in a 4–0 victory over Lithuania. He joined Genoa in 2022 and helped the club secure promotion to Serie A, later starting 36 league matches in 2023–24 and recording eight clean sheets as Genoa finished 11th. Since moving to Inter in 2024, Josep Martínez has added competition and depth in goal, combining one-on-one agility with proactive movement off his line and accurate distribution under pressure.
