José Pedro Malheiro de Sá

José Sá is a Portuguese goalkeeper born in Braga on 17 January 1993. He developed in Portugal, including youth spells with Palmeiras Braga, Merelinense and Benfica, before making his professional debut for Marítimo B in January 2013. Promoted to Marítimo’s first team later that year, he moved to FC Porto in 2016, where he won the 2017–18 Primeira Liga title. He joined Olympiakos Piraeus in 2018, reuniting with coach Pedro Martins, and became a regular as the Greek club won domestic honours in 2019–20. Sá moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2021, replacing Rui Patrício, and established himself as a proactive Premier League goalkeeper. He combines shot-stopping with aerial command and sweeper-keeper actions, while his distribution produced a Premier League assist for Wolves in 2021. At international level, José Sá made his senior Portugal debut against Liechtenstein in November 2023, keeping a clean sheet, and remains part of the country’s goalkeeping group.
