João Filipe Iria Santos Moutinho

João Moutinho is a Portuguese midfielder known for controlling play from central areas. Born in Portimão in 1986, he developed at Portimonense before joining Sporting CP’s academy at 13. He became a first-team regular at Sporting and later captained the Lisbon club, then moved to FC Porto in 2010. At Porto, Moutinho won three successive Portuguese league titles and the 2011 UEFA Europa League as part of a treble. He joined Monaco in 2013 and helped the club win Ligue 1 in 2017 before moving to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2018. Moutinho represented Portugal through a long international career, winning Euro 2016 and the inaugural UEFA Nations League in 2019. After five seasons at Wolves, he continued his career with SC Braga, where his passing and positional discipline remain valuable.
