João Mário Neto Lopes

João Mário is a Portuguese right-back born in São João da Madeira on 3 January 2000. He began with A.D. Sanjoanense before joining FC Porto’s academy at nine, developing initially as a winger. He helped Porto win the UEFA Youth League in 2019, then gained senior experience with Porto B before progressing to the first team. Under Sérgio Conceição, João Mário was converted into a right-back, retaining his dribbling and crossing instincts while taking on wider defensive duties. For FC Porto, he became a regular and collected nine trophies, including two Primeira Liga titles. He also represented Portugal through the youth ranks and made his senior debut in 2023, entering against Liechtenstein. João Mário is currently listed with Fiorentina, continuing a career built on positional adaptability and progressive work from the flank.
