Joseph George Willock

Joseph George Willock is an English central midfielder who plays for Newcastle United. Born in London on 20 August 1999, he developed in Arsenal’s academy after joining at four and a half years old. He made his senior Arsenal debut in the League Cup in September 2017, then appeared in the Premier League against Newcastle in April 2018. At Arsenal, Willock featured regularly in the Europa League and scored several goals before moving to Newcastle on loan in January 2021. During that spell, he scored in seven successive Premier League appearances, matching Alan Shearer’s Newcastle record. Newcastle signed him permanently in August 2021, and he continued as a versatile midfielder capable of carrying the ball forward and making late runs into the area. Under Eddie Howe, Willock has operated as a high-energy shuttler in midfield, contributing to pressing and transitions.
