James Michael Edward Ward-Prowse

James Michael Edward Ward-Prowse is an English midfielder born in Portsmouth on 1 November 1994. He joined Southampton’s academy at eight and made his first-team debut in October 2011, signing his first professional contract the following year. Initially used on the right or in central midfield, Ward-Prowse developed into a regular Premier League starter through his crossing, disciplined distribution and energetic pressing. Southampton appointed him captain in 2020, and in 2021 he became the first Premier League player to complete every minute of two consecutive seasons. After more than 400 appearances for Southampton, he moved to West Ham United in 2023 following the club’s relegation. Ward-Prowse is renowned for precise set pieces and deep passing, while his England involvement includes 11 senior caps and two goals.
