Joël Ivo Veltman

Joël Ivo Veltman is a Dutch right-back whose versatility also allows him to operate at centre-back. He developed through Ajax’s academy and made his senior debut in August 2012. During eight years in Amsterdam, he became a regular defender, winning three Eredivisie titles and featuring in Ajax’s 2017 Europa League final and 2019 Champions League semi-final run. In July 2020, Veltman moved to Brighton & Hove Albion, where his positioning and adaptability supported defensive build-up and coverage across the back line. He represented the Netherlands at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, helping the team finish third, and was involved at Euro 2020. At Brighton, Veltman continued to combine right-sided defending with centre-back cover, giving coaches another option in changing formations. His career reflects Ajax education, Premier League experience and sustained international involvement.
