James Harrington Trafford

James Harrington Trafford is an English goalkeeper born in Carlisle on 10 October 2002. He began as a midfielder with Cockermouth and Carlisle United before moving into goal at nine, and joined Manchester City’s academy in 2015. At City, Trafford helped win the Professional U18 Development League in 2019–20 and the Professional U23 title in 2020–21. He gained his first senior experience with Accrington Stanley in 2021 before joining Bolton Wanderers in January 2022. Trafford made an immediate impact at Bolton, keeping four clean sheets in his first four matches, setting a club record with nine consecutive home shutouts and finishing 2022–23 with 26 clean sheets. Burnley signed him in July 2023, and he contributed to their 2024–25 promotion campaign, which featured 12 consecutive Championship clean sheets. For England Under-21s, Trafford played every minute of the 2023 European Championship, saving two penalties in the final against Spain as England won 1–0.
