John Stones

John Stones is a right-footed centre-back from Barnsley, England, who developed at Barnsley’s academy after joining at age seven. He made his professional debut for Barnsley in March 2012 before moving to Everton in January 2013. At Everton, Stones progressed from a young defender into an England international within two years, earning recognition for his composure and willingness to carry the ball from defence. In 2016, he joined Manchester City, where he continued to develop as a technically assured central defender. Under Pep Guardiola, Stones expanded his game during the 2022–23 season by moving into midfield during possession, helping create an extra player in central areas while retaining his defensive responsibilities. His anticipation, passing and aerial ability support both build-up play and defensive duels. Stones was part of Manchester City’s Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League treble in 2022–23.
