Jóan Símun Edmundsson

Jóan Símun Edmundsson is a Faroese forward who operates primarily as a second striker. Born in Toftir, he developed at B68 Toftir before joining Newcastle United’s academy in 2010. He then continued his career with Gateshead, Viking, Odense Boldklub (OB) and Vejle, building experience across England, Norway and Denmark. At Vejle, he won Denmark’s Goal of the Year award in 2015. Edmundsson moved to Arminia Bielefeld in 2018, helped the club win the 2. Bundesliga in 2019–20, and became the first Faroese player to score in the Bundesliga. With the Faroe Islands, he scored the winner in a 1–0 away victory over Greece in 2014. After later spells with Beveren and Shkupi, Jóan Símun Edmundsson returned to Iceland with KA Akureyri, where his experience continues to add depth to his forward play.
