Jerdy Schouten
Jerdy Schouten is a Dutch defensive midfielder born in Spijkenisse in 1997. He developed in the ADO Den Haag academy before making his professional debut in 2016. Seeking regular first-team football, Schouten moved to SC Telstar for the 2017–18 season, continuing his development in the Dutch second tier. In 2018, he joined SBV Excelsior and established himself as a composed central midfielder, earning the club’s Player of the Year award despite its relegation. Bologna signed him in 2019, and four seasons in Serie A helped Schouten shift from an attacking role into a disciplined number six known for interceptions and secure distribution. He made his Netherlands debut in 2022 and represented the country at UEFA Euro 2024, including a run to the semi-finals. Schouten returned home in 2023 to join PSV Eindhoven, helping the club win the 2023–24 Eredivisie title.
