Jan Schöppner
Jan Schöppner is a German midfielder who developed from regional football into a key figure at 1. FC Heidenheim. Born in Homberg on 12 June 1999, he began at SCW Liemke before joining SC Verl’s youth setup in 2012. He entered Verl’s first team during the 2018–19 season in the Regionalliga West, where his defensive work and ability to win second balls supported his progress. In August 2020, Schöppner moved to Heidenheim on a free transfer, stepping into the 2. Bundesliga. His professional debut came in the DFB-Pokal against Wehen Wiesbaden on 13 September 2020. After gradual integration into the side, he helped Heidenheim win the 2022–23 2. Bundesliga title and secure promotion to the Bundesliga. At Heidenheim, Jan Schöppner has developed into a versatile central midfielder, contributing defensive coverage, aerial strength and forward runs. He remains part of the club’s Bundesliga squad.
