Joseph Michael Scally
Joseph Michael Scally is a defender for Borussia Mönchengladbach and the United States. Born in Lake Grove, New York, he developed in New York City FC’s academy after beginning as a central midfielder before moving to right-back at 14. In March 2018, Scally signed a Homegrown Player contract with NYCFC and made his professional debut later that year in the U.S. Open Cup. Borussia Mönchengladbach signed him in 2019, with Scally joining the German club in January 2021 after reaching his 18th birthday. He made his Bundesliga debut at left-back against Bayern Munich in August 2021 and subsequently earned Rookie of the Month recognition. Scally has since established himself as a versatile full-back and surpassed 100 appearances for Gladbach. He was part of the USA’s 2022 World Cup squad and has remained involved internationally.
