Johnathon Simpson Snedden Russell

Johnathon Simpson Snedden Russell is a Scottish winger from Glasgow, widely known as Johnny Russell. He developed at Dundee United and gained senior experience during loan spells with Forfar Athletic and Raith Rovers. Returning to Dundee United, Russell established himself in the first team and produced a 20-goal 2012–13 season. In 2013, he moved to Derby County, where he spent five seasons and made 182 league appearances, scoring 30 goals. Russell joined Sporting Kansas City in 2018 and became a captain and a major attacking contributor, finishing his MLS spell as the league’s highest-scoring Scottish-born player. He can operate from either flank or in advanced central areas, using movement, acceleration and direct running to create openings. Russell progressed through Scotland’s youth teams, made his senior debut in 2014, and later scored in a European Championship qualifier.
