John Thomas Gordon Ruddy

John Thomas Gordon Ruddy is an English goalkeeper from St Ives, whose 1.92-metre frame and left-footed distribution have shaped a career spanning more than two decades. He developed with St Ives Rangers before joining Cambridge United at 14, making his professional debut in May 2004. Ruddy then moved to Everton and gained senior experience through loan football, including a productive 2009–10 spell with Motherwell. Norwich City signed him in 2010, and he became the club’s established number one during a seven-year stay. At Carrow Road, Ruddy helped Norwich win promotion to the Premier League in 2011 and return in 2015, while receiving the players’ Player of the Season award in 2012. He was selected for England’s Euro 2012 squad, but injury ruled him out; he later won his sole cap against Italy. In 2017, Ruddy joined Wolverhampton Wanderers, won the Championship Golden Glove with 24 clean sheets and helped Wolves gain promotion, before joining Newcastle.
