Joseph Patrick Redmond

Joseph Patrick Redmond is an Irish defender from Tallaght who plays for St Patrick’s Athletic. He began with Kilnamanagh before developing at Crumlin United and St Joseph’s Boys. In July 2016, Redmond joined Birmingham City, where he spent five years, captained the under-23 side and continued his development in England. He gained senior experience on loan with Cork City in 2020, although that spell was curtailed by the COVID-19 pandemic. After leaving Birmingham in 2021, he returned to Ireland with Drogheda United, joining the club in August and helping it retain its top-flight status. Redmond moved to St Patrick’s Athletic in January 2022 and soon became captain, earning the club’s Player of the Month awards for March and April that year. He later captained St Patrick’s to the 2023 FAI Cup, while his defensive leadership and aerial presence have made him a central figure for the Inchicore club.
