Jacob Matthew Ramsey

Jacob Matthew Ramsey is an English central midfielder for Newcastle United. Born in Birmingham on 28 May 2001, he joined Aston Villa’s academy at six and progressed through the club’s youth system. Ramsey made his senior debut for Villa in February 2019 against West Bromwich Albion before spending part of 2020 on loan at Doncaster Rovers. He became a regular in Villa’s first team during the 2021–22 season, earning both the supporters’ and players’ young player awards and scoring his first Premier League goal against Arsenal. Under Unai Emery, Ramsey moved into a more advanced, narrow left-sided role, producing six goals and seven assists in 2022–23. He also helped England win the 2023 Under-21 European Championship. In August 2025, Ramsey left Villa for Newcastle, where his progressive carrying and ability to contribute from central or advanced positions add versatility to the midfield.
