Jiří Pavlenka

Jiří Pavlenka is a Czech goalkeeper born in Hlučín on 14 April 1992. He developed with FC Hlučín and TJ Sokol Hať before joining FC Baník Ostrava in 2008, where he made 68 appearances between 2012 and 2016. In January 2016, Pavlenka moved to Slavia Praha, recording 19 clean sheets in 41 matches and helping the club win the 2016–17 Czech First League title. Werder Bremen signed him in June 2017, and he spent seven seasons in Germany, making 221 appearances while earning recognition for reflex saves and concentration. During the later part of his Bremen spell, Michael Zetterer took the starting place after matchday seven of 2023–24, and Pavlenka left the club as a free agent in May 2024. He debuted for the Czech Republic in November 2016, was selected for the Euro 2020 squad, and has earned 21 caps. Pavlenka is now a goalkeeper for PAOK, where his height, line goalkeeping and shot-stopping remain central to his profile.
