James Pantemis

James Pantemis is a Canadian goalkeeper born in Montreal on February 21, 1997. He started playing in Pierrefonds at age four, initially as a striker before moving into goalkeeping, influenced in part by his father’s goalkeeping background. Pantemis developed with Lakeshore SC and joined the Montreal Impact Academy in 2014. After playing for FC Montreal, he recovered from an LCL injury and had training stints with Bologna in Italy. He signed a first-team contract with Montreal in 2017, made his competitive debut in the 2019 Canadian Championship, and later spent 2020 on loan at Valour FC. With CF Montreal, Pantemis was part of Canadian Championship-winning teams in 2019 and 2021 while building experience across six seasons with the club. He was included in Canada’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, serving as a backup. In 2024, James Pantemis joined the Portland Timbers, opening a new chapter in MLS.
