Jakob Franz Pálsson

Jakob Franz Pálsson is an Icelandic right-back who developed through the youth ranks of Þór Akureyri. He later joined Venezia’s youth system, gaining experience in Italian football before moving on loan. His senior pathway included a spell with Swiss club FC Chiasso and a 2023 loan to KR Reykjavík. In February 2024, Pálsson moved permanently to Valur Reykjavík, where he established himself in Iceland’s top flight. At Valur, he has operated primarily on the right but can also cover central and left defensive positions. His tall frame supports aerial defending, while his recorded work has emphasized clearances and recoveries over attacking output. Pálsson also represented Iceland at under-21 level in 2023 and helped Valur win the Icelandic League Cup in 2025, while appearing in Conference League qualifying.
