Julio Joao Ortiz Landázuri

Julio Joao Ortiz Landázuri is an Ecuadorian midfielder born in Esmeraldas on 1 May 1996. He developed with El Nacional and Universidad Católica, making his professional debut for Universidad Católica in 2014. Between 2015 and 2018, Ortiz played for six clubs across Ecuador’s divisions and had a spell with Uruguay’s Plaza Colonia, while also representing Cumbayá in Ecuador’s third tier. He joined Delfín SC in 2020 and established himself as a regular in Ecuador’s top flight over the next two seasons. Ortiz moved to LDU de Quito in 2022 before joining Independiente del Valle later that year. With Independiente, he won the 2022 Copa Sudamericana and Copa Ecuador and the 2023 Recopa Sudamericana. Ortiz made his Ecuador debut against Mexico in October 2021 and later joined the 2024 Copa América squad, before continuing his career with the Portland Timbers.
