Jordan John Obita

Jordan John Obita is an English defender born in Oxford on 8 December 1993. He joined Reading’s academy at seven and developed as a central midfielder before moving into wider roles. Obita made his senior Reading debut in August 2010, then gained experience on loan with Barnet, Gillingham, Portsmouth and Oldham Athletic between 2012 and 2013. He established himself at left-back during the 2013–14 season after Wayne Bridge’s injury and was voted Reading’s Player of the Season by supporters. A serious knee injury kept him out for an extended period from 2017, but he returned to competitive football in 2019 and later earned another Reading player-of-the-season award for 2018–19. After his long Reading association, Obita continued his career with Hibernian, where his defensive work has included full-back and centre-back duties. He represented England from under-16 to under-21 level before switching international allegiance to Uganda in 2025.
