Jake O'Brien
Jake O’Brien is a Republic of Ireland defender from Cork, born on 15 May 2001. He developed with Youghal United and Lakewood Athletic before progressing through Cork City’s academy. O’Brien moved to Crystal Palace in early 2021, beginning his senior career in England. In 2022, he joined RWD Molenbeek on loan, helping the Belgian side win the Challenger Pro League title. He then transferred to Lyon in August 2023, where he established himself in Ligue 1 and scored five goals in 32 appearances during the 2023–24 season. O’Brien also scored in Lyon’s Coupe de France final against Paris Saint-Germain before returning to England with Everton in 2024. At Everton, his 1.97-metre frame supports his work in aerial duels, while his versatility has allowed him to operate at centre-back and right-back.
