Jean-Claude Ngando Mbende
Jean-Claude Ngando Mbende is a Cameroonian midfielder for Vancouver Whitecaps. Born in Douala on 20 November 1999, he moved to France at seven and developed in the second teams of Paris FC and Amiens SC. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ngando used the FFFUSA programme to earn a scholarship at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. In 2021, he was named South Conference Freshman of the Year after contributing five goals and eight assists in 15 appearances. The following year, he won South Conference Player of the Year and earned NCAA Division I All-American First Team recognition after recording 14 assists. Vancouver selected Ngando fifth overall in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft. In 2024, a loan with Las Vegas Lights brought an All-League Second Team selection before he returned to Vancouver.
