Junior Mwanga

Junior Mwanga is a French defender who can operate at centre-back or in defensive midfield. Born in Lyon on 11 May 2003, he began playing with Cascol Oullins before developing at FC Lyon. He joined Bordeaux in 2019, entering the club’s youth pathway and progressing to the senior side. Mwanga made his Ligue 1 debut for Bordeaux against Brest on the final day of the 2021–22 season, starting in a 4–2 victory. In 2022–23, he established himself in Bordeaux’s defence while also stepping into a holding midfield role to help build play. Strasbourg signed him in August 2023, where his positional flexibility continued to shape his development. He subsequently joined Le Havre on loan during the latter part of the 2024–25 season. Mwanga is a right-footed defender whose calm distribution and reading of play support both defensive structure and possession.
