Jonas Søgaard Mortensen

Jonas Søgaard Mortensen is a Danish defender who developed through local football before joining Esbjerg in 2012. At Esbjerg, he progressed into the senior team and made his competitive debut in a Danish Cup quarter-final against OB in February 2019, followed by a Danish Superliga appearance. He remained with the club through its periods in Denmark’s top flight and 1st Division, making more than 100 league appearances. Mortensen has operated mainly at right-back, while also covering left-back and central defence. He represented Denmark from under-16 to under-19 level, making 10 appearances and scoring twice for the under-19s between 2019 and 2020. In January 2025, Mortensen moved to Rosenborg, beginning a Norwegian chapter after six years at Esbjerg. At Rosenborg, he has contributed as a versatile defender involved in circulating possession and maintaining the team’s defensive structure.
