John McGinn

John McGinn is a left-footed central midfielder from Glasgow, Scotland. He developed at St Mirren and made his first-team breakthrough there in 2012, helping the club win the Scottish League Cup in 2013. In 2015, McGinn joined Hibernian, where he became an important part of the side that won the Scottish Cup in 2016. Aston Villa signed him in 2018, and he quickly established himself in the Championship. He was named Villa’s Player of the Season in 2018–19 and scored the decisive goal against Derby County in the play-off final that secured promotion to the Premier League. Appointed Aston Villa captain in 2022, McGinn has combined ball-carrying, physical shielding and a powerful left-footed strike in midfield. He also represents Scotland, adding international experience to his leadership role at Villa.
