James Thomas Marcinkowski

James Thomas Marcinkowski is an American goalkeeper from Alamo, California. He developed with Mustang Soccer before playing at Georgetown, where he won Big East Freshman of the Year in 2015 and helped the Hoyas win conference championships in 2015 and 2017. Marcinkowski signed with the San Jose Earthquakes as their first goalkeeper Homegrown player in December 2017. He spent 2018–2020 on loan with Reno 1868 FC, earning Rookie of the Year in 2018 after nine shutouts in 41 starts. Marcinkowski became San Jose’s primary starter midway through 2020 and made 129 saves in 2021. In January 2025, he joined the LA Galaxy as a free agent after seven seasons with San Jose. He represented the United States at the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup and in the U-23 Olympic qualifying campaign. Known for short distribution and a ball-playing approach, Marcinkowski contributes to buildup play as well as shot-stopping.
