Julián Malatini

Julián Malatini is an Argentine defender from General Cabrera, Córdoba, standing 1.91 metres tall. He began with Unión Deportiva and Ateneo Vecinos before joining Talleres de Córdoba after a trial in 2017, aged 16. Developed through Talleres’ ranks, he made his senior debut against Sarmiento de Junín on 6 March 2021. Initially used as a right-back, Malatini moved into a more regular centre-back role during a 2023 loan at Defensa y Justicia. His performances there helped earn a permanent move before Werder Bremen signed him in January 2024. He scored shortly after coming on against Freiburg on his Werder debut. At Bremen, Malatini has continued to combine front-foot tackling and clearances with the pace to cover wide areas, reflecting his development from a utility defender into a centre-back.
