Jónatan Ingi Jónsson

Jónatan Ingi Jónsson is an Icelandic right winger who has developed into an attacking player for Valur Reykjavík. Born in Reykjavík in 1999, he began at FH Hafnarfjörður before moving to the Netherlands as a teenager and spending three years in AZ Alkmaar’s youth system. He returned to FH in 2018 and made his senior breakthrough there, helping the club win the Icelandic League Cup in 2022. Before that triumph, Jónsson had established himself as a regular wide attacker, registering six goals and seven assists in the 2021 league campaign. He then moved to Sogndal in Norway, producing 11 goals and nine assists in 2022 and earning his Iceland debut against Saudi Arabia that November. Valur signed him in February 2024, and he responded with 11 league goals and nine assists during his first season. Jónsson can operate on either flank or move inside, combining wing play with link-up passing and finishing.
