Justin Pete Hammel
Justin Pete Hammel is a Swiss goalkeeper born in Basel on 2 December 2000. He developed in FC Basel’s academy, progressing through the club’s under-18 and under-21 teams, and spent a short loan period with BSC Old Boys in 2016. In September 2020, Hammel joined FC Stade Lausanne-Ouchy in the Swiss Challenge League, initially as third choice before becoming a regular and making 21 appearances in his first season. During the 2021–22 campaign, he supplied two assists in a 5–0 win over SC Kriens, highlighting his distribution from the back. Hammel moved to Grasshopper Club Zurich in June 2022 and made his Swiss Super League debut against Basel later that year. He subsequently established himself as Grasshoppers’ first-choice goalkeeper. Hammel has also represented Switzerland at under-21 level.
