Jay Gorter

Jay Gorter is a Dutch goalkeeper born in Amsterdam on 30 May 2000. He developed at FC Purmerend, joined Ajax’s academy in 2010, and later continued his youth career with Amsterdamsche FC and AZ Alkmaar. After moving to Go Ahead Eagles in 2018, Gorter regained his place following a spell with the under-19s and became a key figure in the club’s 2020/21 promotion campaign. He made 40 Eerste Divisie appearances that season and recorded 25 clean sheets, setting a league record previously held by Tonny van Leeuwen. Ajax brought Gorter back in July 2021, but competition for the senior goalkeeping role meant that he also featured for Jong Ajax and spent the first half of 2023 on loan at Aberdeen, where he made four appearances. Returning to Amsterdam, Gorter made eight Eredivisie appearances in 2023/24 and also played in the Europa League, although a concussion later that year interrupted his season. In July 2025, Jay Gorter left Ajax for Pafos, continuing his career in Cyprus.
