Joseph Dave Gomez

Joseph Dave Gomez is an English centre-back born in London on 23 May 1997. He developed through local grassroots football before joining Charlton Athletic’s academy at 10, and he made his under-18 debut at 13. By 17, Gomez had become a first-team regular for Charlton in the Championship, making 24 appearances during the 2014–15 season. He also played every minute of England’s victorious 2014 UEFA European Under-17 Championship campaign. Liverpool signed him in June 2015, and he initially operated at left-back before an ACL injury on England under-21 duty interrupted his debut season. After returning from further injury setbacks, Gomez established himself at centre-back and formed a notable partnership with Virgil van Dijk. He helped Liverpool win the 2019 Champions League and the 2019–20 Premier League title, while later providing cover at centre-back and both full-back positions.
