Jakob Glesnes

Jakob Glesnes is a Norwegian defender born in Bergen on March 25, 1994. He began his football development with Skogsvåg IL and entered senior football at Hald FK in 2010. After spells with Løv-Ham and FK Fyllingsdalen, Glesnes reached Norway’s top flight with Sarpsborg 08 in 2016. Later that year, he joined Strømsgodset, where he became club captain by 2017. Philadelphia Union brought him to Major League Soccer in early 2020, and he developed into a regular central defender and set-piece threat. He helped Philadelphia reach the 2022 MLS Cup Final and was named MLS Defender of the Year that season, while his long-range playoff winner against the New York Red Bulls became a notable moment in his career. Glesnes later joined the LA Galaxy, where he is currently listed as a defender.
