Joseph Paul Gelhardt

Joseph Paul Gelhardt attacks space and runs beyond the line, using his left foot to threaten the back post. Gelhardt began senior football with Wigan Athletic, making his first-team debut in August 2018. He thrives close to the box. He scored his first senior goal for Wigan against Hull City in September 2019. Gelhardt joined Leeds United in August 2020, and made his Premier League debut for Leeds in October 2021, followed by a first top-flight goal against Chelsea in December 2021. He earned a call-up to the England Under-21 squad in late 2021. A long-term contract with Leeds in August 2022 tied him to the club until 2027, while a successful loan spell at Sunderland in early 2023 helped them reach the Championship play-offs. From 2025 his productive loan spells at Hull City sharpened Gelhardt's centre-forward threat, allowing him to link play and finish moves when runs behind are created.
