Joel Chima Fujita
Joel Chima Fujita is a Japanese defensive midfielder born in Tokyo on 16 February 2002. He developed with Machida Okura FC and Tokyo Verdy, making his senior breakthrough with Verdy before moving to Tokushima Vortis in 2021. Fujita then joined Yokohama F. Marinos, where he helped the club win the 2022 J1 League title. In 2023, he moved to St. Truiden, continuing his development in European football. He subsequently joined FC St. Pauli, adding Bundesliga experience to a career built around midfield coverage and distribution. Fujita has represented Japan at youth and senior levels and captained the under-23 side at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Joel Chima Fujita’s role is centred on protecting the defence, progressing possession and linking phases from the centre of midfield.
