Josh Thomas Doig

Josh Doig is a Scottish defender who operates primarily at left-back and can also play as a wing-back. Born in Edinburgh on 18 May 2002, he developed in the Hearts academy before moving across the city to Hibernian in 2019. A loan to Queen’s Park followed in early 2020, giving Doig senior experience before his return to Easter Road. He made his Hibernian debut against Kilmarnock in August 2020, became a regular and won the SFWA Young Player of the Year award for 2020–21. In July 2022, he moved to Hellas Verona and continued his development in Serie A, combining defensive work with forward running from the left. Doig joined Sassuolo in January 2024; after the club was relegated, he remained and helped them win the Serie B title in 2024–25. For Scotland, he progressed through the under-age teams before making his senior debut against Liechtenstein in June 2025.
