Jonathan Clauss
Jonathan Clauss is a French right-back born in Troyes on 25 September 1992. Released by Strasbourg as a youngster, he spent several years in amateur football before reaching the professional game. At Arminia Bielefeld, he adapted to German football and helped the club win the 2. Bundesliga title in 2019–20. Clauss returned to France with Lens in 2020, where his energetic wing-back play and crossing made him a prominent attacking outlet. His Lens performances earned a first France call-up in March 2022, and he debuted against Ivory Coast that month. He moved to Marseille in 2022, continuing to contribute from the right flank. In July 2024, Jonathan Clauss joined Nice, where he reunited with former Lens coach Franck Haise. At Nice, he remains a right-sided defender whose overlapping runs, delivery and ability to support attacks complement his defensive responsibilities.
