José Luis Caicedo Barrera

José Luis Caicedo Barrera is a Colombian midfielder from Palmira, born on 23 May 2002. He began his senior career with Independiente Santa Fe in 2019 before moving to Barranquilla FC in 2020. Caicedo later entered the Pumas UNAM system, where he developed through Pumas Tabasco and the club’s youth teams. He helped Pumas’ Under-20 side win the Apertura 2022 Liga MX U-20 title before advancing to the senior team. At Pumas, José Luis Caicedo established himself primarily as a central defensive midfielder, contributing to ball recovery and the first phase of possession. He has also been used in deeper defensive roles and represented Colombia at under-17 and under-23 level. In 2026, he moved from Pumas to the Portland Timbers, beginning a new chapter in Major League Soccer.
