Jack Butland

Jack Butland is an English goalkeeper from Bristol, born on 10 March 1993. He joined Birmingham City’s academy as a schoolboy in 2007 and progressed rapidly into senior football, including a loan spell at Cheltenham Town. Butland’s performances earned recognition as Birmingham’s Young Player of the Year at 17 and brought him into England’s youth setup. He made his senior England debut in 2012 at 19, becoming the youngest goalkeeper to appear for the national team at that time. After moving to Stoke City, he established himself as a regular before a fractured ankle suffered against Germany in March 2016 ruled him out of Euro 2016 and led to a lengthy absence. He later spent time at Manchester United as a backup before joining Rangers in June 2023. At Ibrox, Butland rebuilt his career as a commanding presence, using his height, positioning and communication to organize the defence while producing reaction saves and one-on-one stops.
