Jean Butez

Jean Butez is a French football goalkeeper born in Lille on 8 June 1995. He developed in Lille’s academy from 2003 to 2015, spending five seasons with the reserve side and making 81 appearances. Butez helped Lille’s reserves win the CFA 2 title in 2016, but he did not make a first-team appearance for the club. In 2017, he moved to Royal Excel Mouscron on loan, beginning his senior career in Belgium’s top flight. After signing permanently in 2018, Butez established himself as a regular and consistent performer. Antwerp signed him in 2020, and he became a key member of the side that won the Belgian league, Belgian Cup and Belgian Super Cup in 2022–23, recording 27 clean sheets across all competitions. Butez later continued his career with Como, adding further experience to a progression from Lille’s reserve ranks to prominent senior football in Belgium and Italy.
