Joe Zen Robert Bell

Joe Zen Robert Bell is a New Zealand midfielder born in Bristol, England, on 27 April 1999. He began playing competitively with Ferrymead Bays in Christchurch before joining the Wellington Phoenix academy at 15 while attending Scots College. Bell later played college football for the Virginia Cavaliers, where he was a three-year starter and helped the team win the ACC Coastal Division and reach the 2019 NCAA Tournament final. He began his professional career with Viking in Norway in 2020, then moved to Brondby in 2022. Bell returned to Viking in August 2023. Internationally, he captained New Zealand at the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup and has also represented the senior national team and New Zealand U23s. He operates primarily as a defensive or central midfielder, contributing through composed passing, positional discipline and defensive work.
